Castello di Magona was built during the first decade of the XVIth century and became, during the reclamation of the Maremma land, the residence of Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany. It then passed into the hands of the Merciai Family, and has been recently transformed into a "Historical House" open to those who are looking for a different holiday, want to discover the rich- in- history, beautiful surroundings of the castle and enjoy Maremma’s wild nature.
The Castle's guests will have the opportunity to live the naristocratic XVIth century world, but with all comforts of contemporary life.
There are 5 double rooms and 6 suites available. Each room, is different from the other, it is made up in different in colour, furnished in its unique style and offers the guests suggestive views from its windows. All rooms and suites are equipped with modern comforts: air conditioning, minibar, safe, Tv sat, telephone with internet access.
Castello di Magona offers its guests something different in every moment of the day; an indoor and outdoor dining room, the bar-lounge and the swimming pool. On request, many different services can be arranged such as cooking demonstrations, massages, private chauffeur driven car hire, guided tours to the local medieval villages such as Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci, Populonia, Massa Marittima, Volterra and to the nearby artistic cities of Lucca, Pisa, Siena and Florence, visits to the wineries and olive oil mills of the area's most famous producers.
